Intersex Online Resources

Below is a growing list of online resources for #Intersex people and families of intersex children.
(Please be patient, I am just beginning to compile!)

Oii-USA (aka Intersex Campaign for Equality) is the United States affiliate of the Organization Intersex International.  Their website has many very helpful links and resources.  This is an important website for anyone interested in Intersex issues.

“Disorders of sexual development (DSDs), formerly termed intersex conditions, are among the most fascinating conditions encountered by the clinician.”  I prefer the term Intersex.  This article gives a decent overview of various Intersex states.

I completely disagree with the following statement, “While the techniques of surgical genital reconstruction have been mastered…”  I don’t think surgical reconstruction techniques for intersex people have been mastered at all if they are still being performed for purely cosmetic, elective purposes and without the informed consent of the patient.

http://aiclegal.org

AIC  advocates for the legal and human rights of children born with intersex traits.  They do tremendous work and their youth outreach is outstanding – ” Inter/Act is the first and only intersex youth leadership and movement-building group in the world.

Inter/Act allows young people born with intersex traits to overcome isolation and secrecy, collaborate, express themselves, and unite their individual stories to develop a voice for a new generation – and this voice is being heard!”
